French Roulette

French Roulette – A game of princes and kings from Monte Carlo.

French Roulette is a rare version of Roulette, but luckily we at Casino-Mate have a few. This version of Roulette was the first to be played at casinos, and came from France. French Roulette is popular with many casino fans because it has a few unique features.

These features include only 37 pockets in the Roulette wheel, the ‘La Partage’ and ‘En Prison’ rules. We’re also stoked to mention that players can also call bets while playing. All this and more is what makes French Roulette a great game for Aussie players.

French Roulette Rules

Just like European Roulette, French Roulette has 37 pockets on the wheel. One pocket will be a single zero, which has a big influence on this version. A few more rules you should know about are below, so have a cuppa while we walk you through this ace game.

En Prison

This is a rule specific only to French Roulette, and will be applied only to even numbers. When the ball lands in the zero pocket, players can choose between taking half their bets back and betting again. If you choose to leave your bet and spin the wheel, it’s all or nothing.

La Partage

Similar to ‘En Prison,’ La Partage also pays back half of a player’s bet if the ball lands on zero. Some French Roulette games will exclude bets like Red /Black and High/Low bets.

Extras

French Roulette also offers players the option of call bets. These bets include the following extra advanced betting options:

  • Neighbours of Zero
  • Orphans
  • Third of the wheel
  • “Finales a Cheval”
  • “Finales en Plein.”

How to Play French Roulette

  • In French Roulette, the dealer is known as the ‘croupier.’
  • Like in any other variant, players have to first place their bets.
  • The croupier will spin the Roulette wheel.
  • If the ball lands on one of your bets, you win.
  • The croupier will then pay out the winning bets.
  • If a player loses, the bets will be collected by the croupier, and the next round will begin.

French Roulette Betting Options

Just like other versions of online Roulette, French Roulette has a range of ace betting options for Aussie players.

  • Black Action: A wager made with a black chip.
  • Black Bet: A wager that the colour of the next number will be black.
  • Column Bet: A bet on one of the columns of twelve numbers.
  • Combination Bet: A wager made with one or more chips, on two or more numbers.
  • Dozen Bet: A bet on one of the sequences of twelve numbers on the layout.
  • Even Bet: A wager that one of the even numbers will win the next spin.
  • Even Money: A wager that pays out one to one. In Roulette, Red, Black, Odd, Even, Low and High bets all pay even money.
  • High Bet: A wager that one of the high numbers will win. The high numbers are between 19 and 36.
  • Inside Bet: A wager placed on the middle, numbered part of the Roulette layout.
  • Line Bet: A wager made on six different numbers.
  • Low Bet: A wager that one of the lower numbers will win the next spin. The lower numbers are between 1 and 18.
  • Odd Bet: A bet than one of the odd numbers will win on the next spin.
  • Outside Bets: A term for the types of bets that are placed outside of the numbered columns on the Roulette layout.
  • Quarter Bet: This wager is similar to the Corner and Square Bets. It is a wager that one of four numbers will win on the next spin.
  • Red Bet: An even-money bet that the next money will be red.
