National Rugby League (NRL) of Australia has officially announced their contract renewal with Sportsbet. This agreement will mean that Sportsbet will become the sports official wagering partner.
The 4 year renewed contract agreement is reported to be valued at $60 million. Furthermore, the agreement is expected to put funds back into the sport at all levels.
Andrew Abdo, Head of Commercial, said the renewal will come with a range of conditions in terms of advertising and marketing, responsible gaming, as well as data and privacy protocols. These new conditions are expected to improve the integrity of the game in wagering quite significantly.
Abdo further commented saying one of the crucial factors in the agreement is that there will be controls in place to restrict the promotion of wagering, especially to minors.
The other benefit of the agreement for the NRL is that Sportsbet will be able to improve the NRL’s digital capability. This is will in-turn open up new opportunities for the game in terms of data analytics, insights, and direct marketing.
Sportsbet Chief Marketing Officer, Barni Evans said the agreement would reaffirm Sportsbet’s strong links with sport.
